The meeting was chaired by Dr Dheeraj Sanghi. He decided that the senate would again meet next month to discuss the proposal of the constituted committees.
It was decided in the meeting that changes, which the institute was planning, should be finalised on priority so that the committee is able to submit its report in the next two weeks. The members were informed about the preliminary work in which they are proposing to make modification in the number of mandatory courses.
At present, the mandatory courses for students are 10, while it has been proposed to make seven courses mandatory. Out of the six more courses, students will have an option to choose any three.
Members also agreed that internship should be made optional so that if a student wants he/she can opt for some other course instead of going for an internship.
It is for the first time that the senate has decided that final year students can do interdisciplinary projects by joining groups from next year.
